Dagupan Doctors

OUR HISTORY

DDVMH was founded by Dr. Vivencio V. Villaflor, Sr. – a surgeon and visionary from Pitogo, Quezon. Displaced by the Second World War, he brought his wife Pilar Villasenor, a pharmacist, and his practice up North to Pangasinan. Amidst the ravages of war, the physician opened the Villaflor Clinic in Dagupan in 1946 at then abandoned Dr. Armando Fernandez Hospital Building along Avenida Torres Bugallon (AB Fernandez Avenue today).

In 1967, son and surgeon Vivencio V. Villaflor Jr., MD would join his father’s practice in Dagupan along with his wife, anaesthesiologist Gregoria Poblete, MD., after both completing residency in the Philippine General Hospital, Manila. With their joint efforts and just a year after, a new Villaflor Clinic and Hospital would open along Arellano Street. Thirteen years later, by September 27, 1981, a full-fledged medical complex as we konw it today in Mayombo District would be inaugurated and fully operational with highly-skilled consultants and paramedical staff. In October 3, 1981, the Hospital would be renamed Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Memorial Hospital, Inc. in honour of its founding patriarch and roster of competent specialists.

In 1944, the Hospital would be officially established a family corporation, now with third-generation members led by grandson and laparoscopic surgeon Vivencio Villaflor III, MD, supporting both medical and administrative services. In 2009, a state-of-the-art Cancer Treatment Center, a first of its kind in Northern Luzon, would stand testament to the Hospital’s vision of making their holistic brand of care available not just to Pangasinenses but to the rest of Region I as well.

To this day, DDVMH continues the tireless quest to stay on top of the ever-increasing demand for expertise, services and treatment facilities that provide the most comprehensive and the best possible patient care.
